Alternative Direction has a systemic approach to practice. This means that clients are understood not only at an individual level but as people in relationships and who belong to families, groups and communities.
Our team is interested in understanding how the interactional patterns and dynamics of these relationships contribute to problems but are also a broader focus for meaning making and change for clients.
We are committed to trauma informed practice and creating a therapy space that offers connection, calm and safety for our clients and their families. Our primary focus is creating a context for change and safety for clients to meet their inner world.
“The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new”

Teens will often seek assistance around managing stress and regulating emotions and behaviour, peer difficulties, self-esteem and identity issues and relationship issues/conflict with their parents. Some young people will need assistance with mental health issues such as anxiety, mood disorders, self-harm/suicidal ideation and eating disorders.
